About Tony

Tony Silbert MSOD, is a nationally recognized speaker and author of Healing Conversations Now: Enhance Relationships with Elders and Dying Loved Ones.  Tony’s partnership with Joan and the birth of this book was prompted by powerful questions and conversations he had with his dying mother, Lynne (who passed of lung cancer in 2006).

Tony has presented on the power of healing conversations at national conferences on aging, state healthcare associations, local and regional conferences on aging, death, and dying, and has delivered numerous public and in-house workshops on this subject.  Tony is passionate about helping individuals have more meaningful connections with elders and dying loved ones.  He is even more excited about the possibilities that exist to fundamentally shift the aging experience – to radically transform the systems and structures that exist today, to change the way care is delivered to elders, and to develop and train the next generation doctors and care providers – incorporating narrative interventions in healthcare and long-term care.

Tony is also a co-founder of Spartina Consulting, a global consulting firm focused on positive and high-engagement approaches to strategy, innovation, and change.  He has over 20 years of experience in organizational development consulting, training, speaking, and facilitation. His areas of expertise include strengths-based and participatory approaches to change, strategy, innovation, and collaboration. Tony is Dean and faculty at National Training Laboratories (NTL), Adjunct Faculty at Providence College teaching Strategic Management in the MBA Program, a Taos Institute Associate, and serves on the board of three local non-profits.  He works with private, public and non-profit organizations both domestically and abroad.  Tony is committed to positively transforming healthcare, elder care, and long-term care.  You can find Tony in South County, Rhode Island, where he lives, works, and plays with his wife and two young daughters.
